I would say that GD is comparatively complex to PoE in terms of theory crafting, which is one of my favorite aspects of ARPGs. Those games in their current state are excellent in their own ways. Is GD worth playing over current versions of Diablo 3 or Path of Exile? If the answer is yes, then this game is probably worth checking out.
Yer a wizard, Harry! (with mortars that shoot meteors). Want to be a mage and a tank? Throw in a giant anime sword and make a build around it. Have a fondness for molotov "blackwater" cocktails? Make a build around it!. You can start at level 1 on Elite or Ultimate difficulty for extra challenge. 
Balance tweaks, such as improving the attribute system. 
New Devotion skills (think of it as a revamped PoE passive skill tree). Oathkeeper, a new class that lets you throw your shield like Captain America and spin to win. Shattered Realm, a new procedurally generated infinite scaling roguelike endgame. A criticism of the game was there weren't many movement abilities, so you were kinda walking around between monster packs. A bunch of new movement skills (teleports, leap slams, etc.). Massive hand-crafted environments (with secrets hidden throughout) and a new procedurally generated endgame. Itemization with build altering or enabling mechanics (damage conversions, unique effects, etc.) for even more theory crafting. Crazy amount of character build possibilities, combining class skills, devotion skills, gear/component skills, etc. Easy to get into, but a very complex ARPG that rewards system mastery. 
$25 for the full game on Steam and frequently goes on sale. Good developer support: consistent patches containing new content and/or good balance changes, actively developed for. Community reviews are very positive, with the words "pleasant surprise" often used. Easily hundreds of hours if you try to collect stuff and build/max multiple characters A single playthrough will probably take at least 50 hours. If you like ARPGs you should try it.įorgotten Gods, the second full expansion for the game, was released on March 27th 2019! It's a good expansion. Grim Dawn is if Titan Quest had a baby with Path of Exile's theory crafting combined with Warhammer's aesthetic. Reddit has helpfully advised me that I look like a "15 year old fortnite boi"
