But even if you don’t have these nostalgic memories, the island is a beautifully crafted, vivid and diverse new area for you to explore. They certainly succeeded, as I became somewhat emotional upon seeing the mushroom-ridden landscape, the impressive Red Mountain volcano and the Silt striders, huge insect-like creatures that transport you from city to city.
The game certainly plays high in this department, as the first steps you set off the boat onto the island feels very reminiscent of the original game. But for those who are a bit older, this new expansion is certainly drenched in nostalgia. For younger players, Vvardenfell might just be a new area. The expansion add the island Vvardenfell to the game, together with a bunch of new features and improvements. Morrowind is the latest expansion to the still popular MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online. I don’t think I even ever finished the campaign! Now we finally get a chance to revisit this wonderful world.
The sense of immersion was unseen, and I remember just wandering on the island and interacting with the world as I made my own story in my mind. Before, I only played Japanese RPG’s like Final Fantasy VII, but switching to Morrowind on a PC was a game changer. As for probably many of you, The Elder Scroll 3: Morrowind was my first introduction into Western open world RPG’s.
