I understand they have different goals but why that would hinder me from following my own goals while my brother follows his does not make sense to me. The Tomb Kings are the only faction that can only play against each other. And the Vampire Coast has completely different resources too yet is available. Skaven, by their nature, are inherently paranoid and wouldn't tell their own most loyal servant any more than they had to in the event of betrayal.Īll of those, some in more ways, some less, are just my theories as to the reasons why it seems Vortex co op limits your partner to whatever race the host selects. It wouldn't make sense for Arkhan to be getting updates as to what the Council of Thirteen were doing with their massive cache of warpstone (not by skaven messenger, that's for sure). Vortex is a story that you follow through, and when you reach certain points in the ritual, you get the cutscenes that vary based on what race you are. I actually have never been able to play as Arkhan in co-op Vortex as far as I know, and the limitation to vortex probably has to do with the resource counter.Įach race's ritual is different, in effects on the vortex and in story. The Mortal Empires campaign, being the sandbox that it is, seems to be the only place to do "lore-unfriendly" match ups, as i call them, that include the whole world and let you go nuts and have the Empire team up with the Vampire Counts or whatever else you want.Īrkhan, in particular, is especially restrictive, in that he's an antagonist to others of his race in the lore, and won't cooperate with his own people, much less anyone else. The vortex campaign just seems to be restricted that way, and there are some likely reasons for it.

We tried to circumvent this issue by trying out Crynsos' Faction Unlocker but all it gave us what more of the minor factions to choose from not the setup we hoped for.Īnyone got an idea how to get this to work? Is there a mod out there that fixes this ? So Whats the deal with this? My Brother really wants to play Arkhan the Black whilst i play as Ikit Claw. What makes this even more irritating to me is that the Vampire Coast factions which also have completely different objectives then the initial four Vortex Races are playable in Head to Head. Now while i understand that the Tomb Kings have different objectives then those races and it wouldn't be a true Head to Head i cannot wrap my head around not getting to decide how i want to play my campaigns. To our dismay we learned that you cannot have one player play as Tomb Kings while the other plays as one of the original four Vortex Races (DE,HE,SKA,LIZ) So my brother and me took the recent DLC/Update as a reason to dip back into a Vortex Campaign.
